In a foam or board insulated building panel with a structural frame, perimeter and interior frame members are composed of two separate structural shapes thermally separated by the insulation so that neither shape penetrates the full panel width, to reduce the conduction of heat or cold through the panel. Varying panel thicknesses can be achieved using the same dimensioned shapes by varying the separation dimension between them. Single thermally broken framing members can be manufactured in the same way as the building panels.

Des épaisseurs diverses de panneau peuvent être obtenues en utilisant les mêmes profilés dimensionnés en modifiant l'espacement entre ces derniers.
