A hose assembly, a hose coupling and a part therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the hose assembly (21A) having a tubular insert portion (24A) of a hose coupling (20A) inserted into one end (23A) of a hose (22A), the external peripheral surface (34A) of the insert portion (24A) having a plurality of spaced apart annular ridges (52, 53, 56) and having a plurality of spaced apart annular grooves (50, 51) therein that are separated from each other by the annular ridges (52, 53, 56) so that the insert portion (24A) has medial grooves (50) intermediate opposite end grooves (51) thereof, the end grooves (51) being narrower than the medial grooves (50).
