A composite gasket including facing material and a core material. The core material includes tanged portions which are formed by disturbing a surface of the core. The tang portions preferably terminate into pointed tips which penetrate the facing material when it is forced against the tangs. When sufficient force is applied against the facing material, the pointed tips of the tangs deform inwardly forming hook shaped ends. These hook shaped ends help form and maintain an excellent mechanical bond between the core material and the facing material. The forming of the tangs does not penetrate completely through the thickness of the core material but simply forms a slight divot in the surface of the core material. Thus, there is no possibility of leakage through the core material.
Garniture composite constituée d'un matériau de surface et d'un matériau de base. Ce dernier comporte des sections en saillie formées en rabattant une surface de la base. Ces sections en saillie se terminent de préférence par des bouts pointus qui pénètrent dans le matériau de surface lorsqu'on l'appuie contre elles. Lorsqu'on exerce une pression suffisante sur le matériau de surface, les bouts pointus des parties en saillie se recourbent vers l'intérieur en prenant la forme de crochets. Ces extrémités en forme de crochet permettent de créer et de conserver une excellente liaison mécanique entre le matériau de base et le matériau de surface. La formation des saillies n'exige pas une utilisation du matériau de base sur toute son épaisseur, ces saillies ne formant qu'une légère protubérance à sa surface. Il ne peut donc pas y avoir de fuites par ce matériau de base.
