The present invention relates to a process for the resolution of derivatives of &agr;-amino acids. In particular the process is concerned with the resolution of a mixture of enantiomers of N-protected amino acids by crystallisation with enantiomerically pure N-unprotected &bgr;-amino acid derivatives.
