The invention relates to the use of derivatives of E-type prostaglandins as EP2 agonists, in general, and, in particular as ocular hypotensives. The PGE derivatives used in accordance with the invention are represented by the following formula I: wherein the hatched segment represents an .alpha. bonds, the solid triangle represents a .beta. bond, the wavy segments represent a .alpha. or .beta. bond, dashed lines represent a double bond or a single bond, R3 is heteroaryl or a substituted heteroaryl radical, R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical having up to six carbon atoms, or a lower acyl radical having up to six carbon atoms, R is selected from the group consisting of CO2R4, CONR42, CH2OR4, CONR4SO2R4, P(O)(OR4) and wherein R4 is selected from the group consisting of H, phenyl and lower alkyl having from one to six carbon atoms and n is O or an integer of from 1 to 4.
La présente invention concerne l'utilisation de dérivés de prostaglandines de type E utilisés en tant qu'agonistes du récepteur EP¿2?, en général, et plus particulièrement, en tant qu'hypotenseurs oculaires. Les dérivés de PGE utilisés conformément à cette invention sont représentés par la formule I suivante: le segment hachuré représentant une liaison .alpha., le triangle solide représentant une liaison .beta., les segments ondulés représentant une liaison .alpha. ou .beta., les lignes en pointillés représentant une liaison double ou une liaison simple, R?3¿ représentant un radical hétéroaryle ou hétéroaryle substitué, R?1¿ et R?2¿ étant indépendamment l'un de l'autre choisis dans le groupe comprenant l'hydrogène ou un radical alkyle inférieur ayant plus de six atomes de carbone, ou un radical acyle inférieur ayant plus de six atomes de carbone, R étant choisi dans le groupe comprenant CO¿2?R?4¿, CONR?4¿2?, CH¿2?OR?4¿, CONR?4¿SO¿2?R?4¿, P(O)(OR?4¿) et R?4¿ étant sélectionné dans le groupe comprenant H, phényle et alkyle inférieur ayant de un à six atomes de carbone et n représentant 0 ou un entier relatif compris entre 1 et 4.
