A laryngeal mask airway has an airway tube (3) substantially aligned with which there are provided one or two channels (6) containing fibreoptic bundles (7, 8) for emitting and receiving light which is directed into the mask aperture in order to provide a monoscopic or stereoscopic view of the laryngeal anatomy, to facilitate intubation of the trachea while maintaining ventilation of the lungs through the laryngeal mask, or to permit diagnosis or treatment of laryngeal or upper airway pathology.

Un dispositif d'intubation à masque laryngé comporte un tube trachéal (3) sur lequel sont pratiquement alignés un ou deux canaux (6) renfermant des faisceaux de fibres optiques (7, 8) émettant et recevant de la lumière qui est dirigée dans l'ouverture du masque afin d'effectuer un examen monoscopique ou stéréoscopique de l'anatomie laryngée et de faciliter l'intubation de la trachée tout en maintenant une ventilation pulmonaire à l'aide du masque laryngé, ou de permettre le diagnostic ou le traitement d'une pathologie des voies respiratoires supérieures ou du larynx.
