The present invention is directed to an interactive on-line system and method for assessing livestock performance and carcass merit. In one aspect of the invention, livestock performance and carcass merit are assessed by retrieving data based on user- specified data retrieval parameters and displaying the responsive data to the user in a dynamically created visual display. In a preferred embodiment, the system and method retrieve data from two or more subsets of the data in the database and display the data from each of the for comparison by the user. In as second aspect of the present invention the system is programmed with a suite of interactive on-line programs that perform a variety of business calculations and analyses relevant to the livestock industry based on variables defined by the user. The system and method are preferably designed for use by feed yard operators, cattle producers or other persons interested in assessing livestock performance and carcass merit.
