ABSTRACT This invention relates to intermediates useful in the preparation of derivatives of l1-aryloxy-2-hydroxy-3-alkyleneamino propanes having a com- bination of .alpha.- and .beta.-adrenolytic properties. These intermediates have the general formula R4NH-alk-R5 wherein: R4 represents hydrogen an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group having 7 to 14 carbon atoms; R5 represents a heterocyclic group of the formula Image or Image R10 represents hydrogen or an alkoxy group having l to S carbon atoms; R11 represents hydrogen trifluoromethyl or an alkoxy group of I to 4 carbon atoms; B represents -NH- or -OCH2- (wherein the oxygen is bonded to the phenyl nucleus) or -(CH2)2- and -alk- represents a straight or branched chain alkylene group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. A process to make those compounds is also disclosed.
