ABSTRACT New derivatives of D-threo-1-phenyl-2-trifluoroacetamido-1,3-proanediol are described of the formula Image wherein R is CH3S- or CH3O2S- and R1 represents hydrogen or, when R repre sents CH3O2S-, even an acyl radical selected from the group consisting of aliphatic acids with 15-17 C atoms and aminoacetic acid. The new compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of formula Image wherein R has the above indicated meaning,with trifluoroeacetic acid or with a reactive derivative thereof and, in case esterifying the terminal hydroxy group with an aliphatic acid at 15-17C atoms or with glycine. The new compounds possess a wide spectrum antibiotic activity.
