ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A coating composition comprises (1) from 10 to 40% by weight a partially hydrolyzed siloxane compound obtained by hydrolyzing a hydrocarbon trialkoxy silane of the formula R'Si(OR'')3, wherein R' is alkyl, phenyl or vinyl and R'' is alkyl or a co-condensation product of such a silane, (2) from 0.05 to 5% by weight based on component (1) of one or more alkali metal or zinc salts of naphthenic acid, (3) form 5 to 30% by weight of acetic acid, and (4) a balance of other organic solvents. The composition may be coated on the surface of an acrylic resin object and cured to provide a coated acrylic object possessing excellent properties such as surface hardness, mar resistance, solvent resistance and stress-crazing resistance.
