ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The surface of a body of heat-resistant alloy is protected from corrosion by means of a corrosion-protective layer, free from boron or boron compound, composed of a compound material consisting essentially of, as matrix, a basic substance in the form of a coherent layer of a homogeneous alloy, in which layer there are embedded hetero- generously distributed islands of discrete elements which form protective oxides the elements being at least partially dissolved in the basic substance; the corrosion-protective layer of the present invention is applicable to gas turbine blades and components of thermal machinery, such as impeller blades, turbine wheels, compressor rotors, components of. combustion chambers and guiding vanes.
