24212 APPARATUS FOR FORMING AN END PORTION OF A PIPE Abstract of the Disclosure An apparatus for forming an end portion of a tubular member to a predetermined shape. The apparatus includes a die having a cylindrical interior surface and a resilient mandrel positioned therein whereby an end portion of a tubular member is received in a space between the mandrel and die. The resilient mandrel is expanded by means which compress the mandrel in one direction with the mandrel expanding in a direction toward the cylindri- cal interior surface of the die and urging the end portion of the tubular member into engagement with the cylindrical interior surface of the die to form same to the contour of the die.
