ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to stabilised copolymers of acrylonitrile and vinyl chloride which contain as the stabilis- ing agent a guanidinium salt of a mercapto alkane sulphonic acid. The invention relates further to stabilised solutions of such polymers in a polar organic solvent. These polymers find use in the production of fibres and filaments which can be fabricated into, for example, fire-retardant clothing.
