ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A scram valve assembly is disclosed having a pilot valve governing the opening or closing of the scram valve. The operation of the pilot valve is directly dependent on instant conditions in the scram valve housing without any interposed sensors and/or signal transducers, using a negative pressure wave propagating towards the scram valve in the event of a line rupturing, thus considerably reducing the scram valve response time. The arrangement according to the invention also increases reliability of operation of the assembly.
