ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to stern braking device for a ship, in a form of a shield which is placed behind the propeller and the rudder. The top part of the shield has a concave cross section on either side of a plane of symmetry and an hydraulic stabilizer. It is pivotally mounted at the top to a lifting gear capable of sliding up and down and at the bottom to the ship's hull by a strut.
