METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COVERING THE CORE OF AN ELECTRIC CABLE WITH A FOLDABLE METAL SHEATH ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method and apparatus for longitudinally folding a metal tape around an electric cable core comprising one or more conductors. The tape is pre-formed by elastic means and is then formed into a tube with overlapped edges around the core by elastic means as both the core and the tape are advanced longitudinally. The elastic means is formed of elastically deformable sheet metal and the portion thereof which forms the tape into a tube is funnel-shaped and surrounded by a spring biassed, hinged collar. After the tube is formed, it may be covered with an extruded, protecting layer.
