ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An optical information record member having a substrate and an optical information carrier layer formed on the substrate is disclosed. The layer is composed of 40 to 80 atomic % of In and 60 to 20 atomic % of one of Se and S. The layer will be changed into a material which is insoluble to alkaline etchant upon the exposure to a light beam which is modulated in response to information signals to be recorded.
