ABSTRACT A balance beam adjustable for a desired liquid level in a reservoir is under the control of a device responsive to pressure head in a main leading from, and reflecting the liquid level in, the reservoir, the beam being in charge of a pump control for one or more pumps for activating the pumps when re- quired when the liquid level drops in the reservoir, whereby to substantially maintain the liquid level. A timer-operated anti-stagnation or anti-icing control device is provided in association with the beam.
