ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a semiconductor switch comprising a thyristor and transistor. The main electrodes of the thyristor are connected between the collector and base of the transistor. A control circuit applies a control signal to the gate of the thyristor and a pulse circuit applies a pulse current to the base of the transistor in such a manner as to turn off the thyristor by generating a reverse bias between the two main electrodes of the thyristor. A diode is connected across the main electrodes of the thyristor.
