ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mineral winning machine which operates in conjunction with a longwall conveyor has a cutting drum or the like mounted at the end of a beam which is raisable and lowerable. The beam is supported on a body so that the beam support can be transposed about a vertical axis arranged at the centre of the body, The body is in turn supported for movement and the cutting drum can be alternately disposed at one or other end of the body to win mineral in both directions of travel. Conveyors are arranged at the ends of the body and extend transversely of the body to transfer mineral to the longwall conveyor. -2-
