TOPICAL TRIETHYLENETETRAMINE - CONTAINING PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE ABSTRACT The present invention relates to topical compo- sitions containing triethylenetetramine useful in treat- ing skin disorders. Triethylenetetramine, or trien, has heretofore been administered orally. Current therapy employs antibiotic or antimitotic agents for topical application, coupled with ultraviolet radiation or systemic antimetabolites in some cases, but with results which are not uniformly satisfactory. In addition, the physical properties of the agents in the prior art cause topical preparations of those agents to be un- sightly. Trien provides topical anti-inflammatory activity which, in combination with conventional anti- infective agents or antimitotic agents, is shown to provide improved effectiveness in the topical treatment of skin disorders and can be formulated in a clear solution or gel for pharmaceutically elegant application.
