ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for complexing metal oxide particles in an organic medium is disclosed. The method comprises incorporating into said medium an effective amount of a complexing agent of the formula: Image wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl and alkenyl groups containing from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, aryl groups containing from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, alkyl and alkenyl groups containing from 4 to 22 carbon atoms substituted with one or more aryl groups containing from 4 to 10 carbon atoms and aryl groups containing from 4 to 10 carbon atoms substituted with one or more alkyl or alkenyl groups containing from 1 to 22 carbon atoms; R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, -(CH-CH2O)nH, wherein n is an integer from 1 to 10, alkyl and alkenyl groups containing from 1 to 22 carbon atoms, alkyl and alkenyl groups containing from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, alkyl and alkenyl groups containing from 1 to 22 carbon atoms substituted with one or more aryl groups containing from 4 to 10 carbon atoms and aryl groups containing from 4 to 10 carbon atoms substituted with one or more alkyl or alkenyl groups containing from 1 to 22 carbon atoms; R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, -CH3, and -CH2CH3; and R5 and R6 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, -CH3, -CH2CH3, and -(CH2CH2O)nH wherein n is an integer from 1 to 10.
