ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the conversion of the trans isomer of a compound of the formula I Image (I) wherein Q represents an ester forming group, into the cis isomer of said compound or the corresponding free acid or salt thereof, which comprises oxidizing the trans isomer of a compound according to formula I into an ester of the formula II Image (II) wherein Q is as defined above and subsequently hydrogenating said ester into a compound of formula I, and in the event of an ester resulting and an acid or salt being required converting the result- ing ester of formula I into the corresponding free acid or salt thereof.
