ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention provides a surgically effective antiseptic biological dressing for application to wounds, burns, ect. which comprises a film of a film-forming biologically acceptable proteinaceous substance, and a reaction product of an aqueous solution of hypochlorite and protein, the amount of film-forming substance being at least as great as the weight of protein in the reaction product. Suitable film-forming substances include gelatin and collagen. The dressing may also include a fibrous reinforcement and fibrous backing.
