ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The purification of an aqueous solution of potassium chloride, which is used for producing potassium hydroxide by electrolysis in an electrolytic cell using a cation exchange membrane is carried out by adding an oxidizing reagent to the solution to cause precipitation of the impurities including additives such as anticaking reagents and thus allow for their removal.
