A B S T R A C T "COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR SCALE INHIBITION" When a copolymer of styrene sulphonic acid and maleic anhydride or acid, and an organophosphonic acid especially 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid, are added to boiler water, the formation of scale is more effectively inhibited by this combination of additives than by the same concentration of either alone.
