ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Monomeric polysiloxanes end-capped with activated un- saturated groups are copolymerized with acrylic acid to form hydrophilic, water absorbing polysiloxane contact lenses. These contact lenses are unexpectedly capable upon hydration of retaining from 1 percent to about 99 percent by weight, based upon the total weight oP the copolymer, of water.
