TITLE OF THE INVENTION TRACTION BODY CONSTRUCTION FOR INFINITELY VARIABLE TRANSMISSIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved construction for torque transmitting bodies retained under high normal force loading against complementing traction surfaces in the transmission of torque by friction. Conical traction members are assembled in end-for-end relation to provide the traction body with a biconical shape. The body is supported at opposite ends by integral shaft extensions at the small ends of the conical members. In one embodiment, the traction members are assembled on a central shaft. In an alternative embodiment, the traction members are interconnected directly with each other to provide the biconical body.
