ABSTRACT Gauging apparatus for presses and the like is disclosed which has an elongated housing and a drive screw substantially enclosed by the housing. There is a drive motor coupled to the screw for driving the screw. A pair of parallel, longitudinally-extending carriage ways are secured to the housing, each way having a running edge of V-shaped cross section. A gauge mounting carriage is coupled to said screw for linear drive by the screw, the carriage having grooved rollers thereon engaging at least one of the running edges, whereby the carriage is supported and guided as it is driven by the screw.
