ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A mobile factory providing apparatus for harvesting and processing trees to chip form at the stump location to reduce to a minimum the number of separate operations presently carried out between stump and mill. This factory consists of a single vehicle with a positive traction system to ensure a stable platform for favourable positioning of the factory to a stand of trees. Sub systems of the vehicle include apparatus for grasping, rapidly severing and transferring a tree to a processing station where mechanism debarks and debranches the tree and reduces it to pulp chips and apparatus for transferring the chips to a storage area on the vehicle,
