° SMOKE-RETARDANT CHLORINATED POLYMER COMPOSITIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The addition of cobalt, zinc, iron or manganese salts of hydroxycarboxylic or dicarboxylic acids containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms to vinyl chloride resin compositions greatly reduces the evolution of smoke when the compositions undergo combustion processes. These salts exhibit synergistic action when used along with aluminum hydroxide.
