10.27.77/jsc File 15542 IMPROVED CIRCUIT BREAKER Abstract of the Disclosure A high performance, manually and automatically operable, trip-free magnetic circuit breaker incorporates a collapsible linkage having selected elements of precision molded plastic cooperating in a dual latch system; incorporates a double break contact system to achieve longer life, more reliable operation and improved rupture capacity; and incorporates auxiliary switch means with improved actuator biasing. The breaker incorporates a magnetic actuation system with improved core, clapper and coil mounting to achieve more accurate and consistent breaker operation; and incorporates improved magnetic circuit means to achieve more reliable breaker operation in flux switch type breaker applications. The breaker incorporates a modular construction and a housing having housing parts secured together by external mounting clips to achieve better electrical characteristics, easier more reliable assembly and mounting, and easier adaptation to various breaker applications. The breaker incorporates novel means for mounting and coupling breaker units to achieve multipole operation and incorporates compact, readily accessible calibration means in which the direction of application of a substantially contant spring force is varied to permit convenient, high resolution calibra- tion of the breaker.
