Abstract of the Disclosure A low carbon steel wall suited for diffusion chromizing containing 2 to 10% chromium and up to 1% of carbide forming elements. Prior art steels require up to as much as 12 hours of diffusion chromizing to form the required protective layer and the steel of the invention substantially shortens the necessary treatment time.
