ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A multi-speed gear transmission in which the available speed ratios are increased by the addition of planetary gearing in an intermediate drive transmission unit which is between a change speed transmission unit and a range and direction of travel transmission unit. The planetary ring gear is provided with an external gear ring portion which is selectively driven by either a primary power shaft or by an auxiliary power shaft or by the power output shaft, and also can be braked and connected directly to the output shaft to provide the additional speed ratios.
