ABSTRACT: A device for optically scanning an information track on a rotating information carrier. The scanning light beam is produced by a cathode-ray tube. The device comprises a position detector which cooperates with the deflection means for the electron beam for accurately following the track. Small variations relative to an average scanning rate can be compensated for by deflection of the electron beam in a direction parallel to the information track. The electron ray tube preferably produces three electron beams of which one serves for reading and the two other ones serve for following the track. - 11 -
