ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Elastomers and thermo-plastics are prepared for cross-linking in that an anti-oxidant is grafted upon the macro-molecules prior to cross-linking to stabilize the presense of the anti-oxidants and to avoid premature cross-linking if e.g. silanes are also to be grafted for subsequent cross-linking. 6-ethoxy - 2,2,4 trimethyl- dihydroquinoline is preferably used for grafting on polyethylene either by way of heat application or by irradiation.
