076144-BB - 1 - Wear Compensator for Belleville Spring clutch Abstract: An automatic wear compensator for the clutch friction faces of a diaphragm or Belleville spring-actuated clutch (10) for an automotive vehicle to maintain optimum spring charac- teristics and uniform clutch release lever and bearing position through the utilization of a rotatable cam ring (31) positioned on the backside of the clutch pressure plate (26) and several levers (59) pivotally mounted in slots in the pressure plate. One end (63) of each lever (59) is adapted to engage the clutch flywheel (12) and the opposite end (64) of the lever operatively engages a projection (34) on the cam ring (31), with the spacing between the flywheel (12) and the pressure plate (26) determining whether the levers (59) are pivoted to rotate the cam ring (31).
