ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A three-phase wattmeter for measuring watts (or VAR's) in a three-phase power system. The wattmeter employs a single multiplier to multiply a signal proportional to voltage by a signal proportional to current. A switching circuit, in series with the inputs to the multiplier, operates so as to cause the signals applied to one input of the multiplier to oscillate between one of several voltage representative signals. Similarly, the switching circuit causes the signals applied to the other input of the multiplier to oscillate between one of several current representative signals. The oscillations between the signals are made in unison so that the multiplier is always multiplying a given voltage representative signal by a given current representative signal. The output of the multiplier then indicates the average of these products. (i.e. the average power in the three-phase system).
