ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is an integrated flow control valve and check valve arrangement for gases, and in particular an arrangement having a check piston incorporated into the outlet side of a gas valve. By incorporating the check piston in the outlet of the gas valve itself, the check piston protects the gas valve as well as the gas service against possible back flow of fluid, for example, water. For example, if the gas valve is connected by a hose to a water faucet, water cannot flow back through the gas valve and into the gas line which typically has a much lower supply pressure, e.g. 1/2 PSI, than the water supply (20 to over 100 PSI). The invention thus frustrates vandals who have been known to connect a rubber hose between a gas cock and a water faucet and then turned both items to the open position.
