ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Process for preparing bicyclic lactone ketones of the formula Image wherein R12 is (1) Image (2) or (3) wherein CgH2g, R2, R3, s, T, and Z are as defined herein- after, by way of a cyanohydrin; and the intermediates pre- pared thereby. The ketones are useful intermediates in preparing prostaglandins and prostaglandin analogs having pharmacological utility. This divisional application is particularly directed to optically active bicyclic lactone cyanohydrin monoformates of the formula Image wherein L1 is Image or Image . - 1 -
