A B S T R A C T The invention provides a process for the preparation of 2-isopropylamino-pyrimidine, the process comprising reacting bis(isopropylguanidine) sulphate with 1,1,3,3-tetraethoxy-propane in stoichiometric proportions at 40-60°C, in acidic aqueous solution.
