Abstract An endless chain (10) for carrying stock removal tools is provided with two sets of rollers (34 and 40) for supporting and guiding the chain around a chain housing. One set of rollers (34) functions to guide the chain through the work zone portion of its travel while the second set of rollers (40) functions to guide the chain through non-work zone portion of its travel. By shifting supporting function from one set of rollers to the other, it is possible to avoid a wear problem that might be associated with a single set of rollers having to reverse rotation as they enter or exit from the work zone area of the machine.
