ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for forming polymeric filamentary material in which extruded molten filaments are advanced through a solidification zone, over non-rotatable guide means for tensioning the solidified filaments without inducing substantial drawing thereof, through a gaseous fluid heated to a temperature above the glass rubber transition temperature of the filaments and then wound up at a velocity of from 1000 metres/minute.
