ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a process for producing 2,3:5,6-bis-cycloalkeno)pyridines from cycloalkanones, in which cycloalkanones having at least one reactive methylene group adjacent to the keto group are reacted with aliphatic aldehydes and with ammonia in the gas phase at temperatures from approximately 250 to 550°C in the presence of a catalyst having dehydrating and dehydrogenating properties.
