Abstract of the Disclosure A device for use in applying flexible wall or floor coverings is disclosed. The device includes a profiled section and a pressure strip. The profiled section has a supporting surface for the material to be cut to size, a cutting edge at one end of and a support edge at the other end of the supporting surface, and a locating edge running parallel with the cutting and support edges. The cross section of the profiled section lies substan- tially within a triangle, the locating edge, the cutting edge, and the support edge each passing through one corner of the triangle. The supporting surface for the wall or floor covering extends from a plane passing through the support and locating edges, initially at a small angle and then ascending more steeply to the cutting edge, the distance, as measured along the said supporting surface, between the support edge and the cutting edge, being equal to the distance, as measured in said plane, between the support edge and the locating edge. The pressure strip is of approximately the same length as the said profiled section but separate therefrom, and has a pressure surface, the cross-sectional profile of which is designed to complement the profile of the supporting surface.
