ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a proximity detector that pro- cesses voltages induced across the sections of at least one antenna. It is characterized by the fact that the antenna sections are connected to means of sampling two distinct signals relating, one, to the "peak" value of the voltage induced across the section whose voltage is the highest and, the other, to the mean value of the voltage across the various sections, said sampling means being, in turn, connected to means of analyzing these two signals. The detector has particular application to elevator doors.
