ABSTRACT Compounds of formula (II) Image (II) wherein R is alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms and X is chlorine or bromine. The compounds (II) are useful as intermediates for the preparation of haloperidol which compound is prepared by reacting a compound (II) with 4-p-Chlorophenyl-4-hydroxy- piperidine in an aqueous basic solution, acidifying the reaction mixture and isolating haloperidol therefrom.
