ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A motor is disclosed that is particularly adapted for interconnection with a capacitor and for operation from a single phase power source. The motor has a magnetic core with a winding circuit that has three sub-circuits for establish- ing instantaneous magnetic poles with the capacitor connected in series with one of the sub circuits and the winding circuit energized. The winding circuit may include first, second and third winding phases which are arranged circumferentially around the core so that the effective centers of the next adjacent polar regions of opposite instantaneous polarity of each given winding phase are spaced apart 180 electrical degrees around the core, and the effective centers of the next adjacent successive ones of the instantaneous polar regions of the first, second and third winding phases are spaced apart 60 electrical degrees around the core. One of the winding phases is comprised of a coil group of winding turns arranged for establishing at least a real pole and a consequent pole. The winding arrangement provides substantially balanced operation with improved efficiency.
