Abstract of the Disclosure Spent drilling mud riser box construction for maintaining a selected high mud level for continuous testing of the quality of the drilling fluid as it passes near the upper level and for recovery and removing a portion of the drilling mud for continuous sampling at that high mud level by gravity flow, the height of the mud level being selectively adjustable for passing the flowing mud to a shale shaker, or, when the shale shaker is to be bypassed, alternately to a mud disposal chamber for recycle, sampling and test of the mud in continuous flow.
