-9- ABSTRACT FLAT BED KNITTING MACHINE A flat bed knitting machine comprising a flat elongate bed on which is retained a plurality of parallel, latchable, needles equally spaced along the length of the bed and each movable relative to the bed in a direction lengthwise of the needles and transverse of the bed length, a carriage slidably mounted on the bed for movement transversely of the needles, and a needle-engaging cam plate releasably located in a recess in an upper surface of the carriage and retained in the recess, the carriage having a handle gripped by the user of the machine to transverse the carriage back and forth along the length of the bed.
